Take a look at page 86 of the Instructions for Form 1040 (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf).

You&#039;ll see that for fiscal year 2006, that federal income from all sources was $2.4 trillion.
- the pie chart on the left of that page shows how much (in percentages) came in from each revenue category.

- for instance, just personal income taxes acounts for 39% of that number: that&#039;s $983.7 billion.  That&#039;s a lot of personal income taxes.</description>
